Nathan became a Jew today.  We hired Rabbi Shriebman to officiate.  We first met him at High Holiday services and were very impressed.  He's Reconstructionist, so his views on Judaism are slightly different from mine, but I find his approach to be very refreshing and modern.  He finds ways of making you really feel the spirit of every part of the service.  He recommended a mohel, Dr. Berberich, who also turned out to be phenomenal.  The service was held at my mom's house in Berkeley.  There was a very small group of people present, just some close family and a couple friends.  My best friend Aaron Mohamed served as kvatter. This was my first time at a rodeo, so to speak, and I was very nervous.  But the rabbi and mohel handled everything with aplomb.

Afterwards we took Nathan Morris back to UCSF for his first outpatient visit.  He now weighs over 5 lbs, which is a big deal.  It means Yelena & I have been doing a great job of feeding him and he's growing well ahead of schedule.  So, busy day for the boychick.

No, no pictures.  Sorry.  It was a beautiful ceremony but I was too distracted to take any photos.  Other people did so maybe I'll be able to post some soon.

Oh yeah, and Aaron's wife Julia handmade a receiving blanket for Nathan.  This brings the number of people who have lovingly hand-made things for him to eight.  He's a well-loved boy.
