Fourth Stop: San Diego

Ah, San Diego.  After the frigid north, I can't tell you how nice it was to be in a place where you could go outside with wet hair and not get a cold.  (I caught the cold in Edmonton and it's been following me halfway around the continent.  I'm mostly better but can't seem to shake this dry cough.  That's what happens when Daddy doesn't get a break.)

The weather in SD has been beautiful--make that gorgeous--as is to be expected in the Fall.  Life at Yelena's parents' place has been tranquil and idyllic.  We got our new car (as you might have heard) and even had time to get a few problems with it ironed out.  Turns out scratches look really bad on a black car.  And when the car alarm went off while I was driving, that was a "feature."  Anyway it's fixed now--thanks to the fine people at Car Audio Heaven in El Cajon.

We've been able to visit with some friends down here, including Meredith; James; Jen and her children; Chris, Diana & Sonya; Michelle & Graham; and Oleg & Laurissa.  My mother in law has cooked us delicious food and helped out a lot with Nathan.  She's happy for the chance to see him and I'm happy for the break.

Unfortunately Yelena has come down with a headcold - probably my fault.  The result is we'll be stretching our stay down here another day or two.  Still, two more days in paradise can't be that bad.

Anyway that's the end of our trip.  It's been a long and tiring trip and all three of us are pretty worn out.  I know Nathan will be glad to go back to his normal routine, as will I.  That's the great thing about California; it's nice to go on vacation, but it's also nice to come home again.
