"Hey Jordan, what's up?"

Nothing.  Not a God damn thing.  I'm studying for the bar, remember?

Seriously, there has been some minor news lately, and I haven't had time to blog about all of it, so here's the short version:

4th of July: Took the entire day off.  Had a barbecue in Golden Gate Park with Aaron Mohammed & some friends.  It was fantastic.

Movie I recommend: Ratatouille.  Honestly one of the best movies I've seen in the last few years.  Animated or otherwise.  The review in the Chronicle said the director deserves an Academy Award--not for best animation, but simply for best director.  I agree.

New photos: I've posted some photos from my & Yelena's graduations.  I need to tweak some settings in Coppermine (my gallery software) to display them properly.  Probably won't have time until after the bar.
New phone: The in-laws got me Motorola Ming as a graduation present (thanks!!!).  Full smartphone, touch screen, handwriting recognition, plays music + movies on a 2 gig removable card, full web browsing, voice recognition + voice synthesis, and it runs Linux.  Also a beautiful design.  Could be an iPod-killer; too bad it's not sold in the States!
Speaking of Linux: New version of Kubuntu: Gutsy Gibbon.  It's only a beta but it works great for me!  Also new version of the spinny cube thing.  Now it's called Compiz-Fusion.  Also beta, but very cool.  I'll post screenshots of all these things when I have time--probably after the bar.

Freaking out: The bar is 18 days away.  If it were toay, I'd be screwed.  Time to ramp it up.  I found a great online resource: flashcardexchange.com.  I wish I'd known about this when I started law school.  They have user-made flash card sets for pretty much every legal subject, including sets specifically for the California bar.

I found one set that was designed for the LA barbri class.  I figured it had to be pretty much the same as the SF barbri class.  But as I start studying these things, I realize I don't know a single answer.  There are questions about crazy stuff that was never covered in class, and they keep talking about "parishes," something we don't have in California.  In fact there are very few states in the Union that still have parishes; it's a throwback to old European Common Law.  Then I found a flashcard that was simply wrong on a point of law.   I'm thinking, "this is the worst set of flashcards I've ever seen," and then it hits me: LA = LOUISIANA, NOT LOS ANGELES.

As Cmdr. Jim Lovell said to Mission Control when his damaged Apollo 13 spacecraft slid around the dark side of the moon: "Catch you on the flip side."
