Many, Many New Videos

I've been doing photography in earnest for 11 years now, but I've never really worked with video.  When Nathan was born, we bought a camcorder.  There's been a slow dribble of videos making their way to Youtube, but I haven't uploaded much from the past three years.  Part of it was lack of time and computing power, too.  But now I have a fancy new laptop (which I bought for web design) and a 160 minute commute, which I mostly use for web design, but which also leaves plenty of time (and computing power) for other things - like video processing.

Turns out video processing is hard; it's way more time-consuming that still photos, and you're literally dealing with another dimension.  And stuff like audio.  There's a brand new video editing program called OpenShot, and it's free, open source, and available for Linux, as well as Mac OS and Windows (of course).  It makes it super easy to do multi-track transitions and video overlays.  It's got a host of more advanced features too, which I haven't even touched yet.  Perfect for a beginner like me.

The result: I'm cleaning out my video backlog.  Today I've posted fifteen new videos, going back two years,   They're almost all about Nathan, of course.  Highlights include:

  • Nathan's 1st birthday party, where Nathan discovered musical instruments
  • Nathan rides many trains
  • Nathan flies a kite
  • Nathan plays baseball
  • Nathan spends quality time with both Baba and Nana (the grandmothers)

Of course, all the videos have been added to the NMBK playlist.  Here you go:
