We could have bought a house

Just got the charges statement from the hospital.  $107,000.  No, that's not a typo.  One hundred and seven thousand dollars.  $38,000 for mommy (for three days in the delivery room and two days in a recovery room, plus tests, surgery, etc.) and $90,000 for baby (one week in the NICU, plus tests, etc.).

All I can say is, thank God for health insurance.  We don't know how much Yelena's insurance will cover, but hopefully most of it.  And now I need to call Kaiser.

Thankfully, it was all worth it.  We have a healthy baby who's been home for a week now.  We're still adjusting every day, learning the difference between hungry cries and poopy cries.  But we both managed to get a good night's sleep last night, which is a small miracle.  Meanwhile the boychick grows a little bigger and stronger every day.  We've got another doctor's appointment on Friday and I think they'll be very pleased with his progress.
