Too Much Awesome

Here's what I did this weekend:

• Did an all-day CW reenactment on Alcatraz
• Free ferry ride to the island . . . and they let us get on first
• They fed us and I drank many, many cups of coffee
• We got the secret tour of the original Civil War fortress under the prison (I'm not kidding)
• We got the other secret tour of the engine room, the secret tunnel that goes all the way under the island, and the workshop under the prison (all of which is closed off to the public)
• Got the tour of the hospital, which is also closed to the public, and I got to lie on the operating table where some famous prisoner died and where they operated on Al Capone
• Got to see a B-17 bomber go overhead . . . twice
