Nathan crawls

Nathan crawled for the first time today.  For a couple months now, he would get into crawling position and rock back and forth, or even sometimes crawl backwards.  He also mastered the art of flopping and rolling to the point where he could get pretty much anywhere he wanted, but this is the first time he really crawled.  Yes, of course there's a video.  It's under 3 minutes and you can feel free to kill the sound (unless you want to hear me explaining to Nathan that we don't chew on Daddy).

New Camcorder

We know Nathan is going to start crawling soon.  He's also gotten a lot more active, personable, and fun to watch in the last few months.  We knew we were going to need a camcorder.

Nathan plays catch

Grandpa Rick has taken a wonderful video of Nathan playing his favorite new game - catch.  Enjoy:

"Hey Jordan, you never upload your photos to Facebook."  Well, now I am.  So stop complaining.

San Diego Update [PICS]

The very fact that I can even write an update must be a positive sign.

Trusting your Computer

An op-ed from today's New York Times talks about trusting your computer when it wants to automatically update.  The article reflects people's general ambivalent attitude toward computers: things that get in the way and boss you around and will theoretically make your life easier and more convenient but usually just slow you down and drive you nuts.  This attitude represents the ultim

I'm in Diego, Trick

Made it to San Diego with Nathan.  First time flying solo with the Bean - I was nervous about it.  Virgin America is always awesome; I've said before that flying Virgin was the first time I was actually disappointed to leave the plane.  There are several reasons for this: (a) Nicer seats, (b) they pressurize the cabin better so the altitude doesn't bother you as much, (c) they have a humidifier so the air doesn't get as dry, and you land feeling refreshed, (d) they have mood music and lighting to make you more relaxed and cheerful (it may be a cheap psychological ploy but it's great!

Environmentally Friendlier Than Thou

My web host just informed me that they've gone green.  That may not sound like a big deal (how much energy could teh Internets possibly take?) but it actually is.  You know the computer under your desk?  Imagine a computer ten times the size.  Now imagine twenty of those.  That's a small server farm.  It uses a lot of electricity, and it generates a lot of heat, which has to be air conditioned using more electricity.  My web host now gets all that electricity from wind power.

More photos: Duncan's Mills

A couple weeks ago I went to another CW reenactment at Duncan's Mills.  Didn't take many pictures myself, but I lent my camera to Judy, a professional graphic designer with some real skill.  The problem with letting someone else borrow your camera is . . . you have to process the photos.

Anyway here they are:

We have it now.

Just in case you weren't already convinced of Google's awesomeness, here comes Google Voice.

Google Voice is basically an answering service.  You call one number, and it tries all your other numbers.  If it can't reach you, it takes a message.  Of course, this is Google, so they've added a bunch of other crazy features:
