"They look like crippled computers."

I've been saying for years that the quality of gaming on a computer is better than on a console.  Not only is it way cheaper (you already have a PC), and there is way more variety (how many RTS games are there for a console?), but the graphics are better.  Always have been, always will be.

Turns out it's not just my opinion.  This guy makes essentially the same points, but in a very thorough fashion.  Long but entertaining read.  He also seems more pissed off by the whole thing than I am.

Thumbs up!

Borat: Thumbs Up

Yes, it was childish and uneccessarily gross.  Yes, it did falsly portray Khazakstan as a land of poor idiots and anti-Semites (it was filmed in Romania).  But after the setup, it turned into a brilliant critique of American society.

How 'Sweatshops' Help the Poor by Thomas DiLorenzo

First problem: why is it that the only people debating this issue are liberals and conservatives with ulterior agendas? We all know that liberals really care more about how these people live than how much money they earn. And we all know that conservatives really care more about how much money is being made than they care about working conditions. No one ever shuts up long enough to let someone from the third world have a voice.

That being said, what's the REAL solution? Well, frankly, sweatshops are part of it.

Our shame and our pride

I've been saying for a long time that I think the solution to the homeless problem isn't just soup kitchens and temporary shelters.  We need to be getting these people cheap housing and real help.  Some of these people have disabilities or debilitating illnesses, and some of them have mental problems.  I think it's a social crime to allow a person with serious mental problems to stay on the street.  If they were wealthy, we'd have them involuntarily committed to an expensive institution where they'd be cared for.  The only reason the homeless don't get the same type of care is because

Admit it.
