GKrellM

GKrellM is a small window that sits in the corner of your screen and tells you how hard your computer is working. It can also monitor other things, like your email and the weather. It’s small, it’s awesome, and it’s only available for Linux.
Until now.
Bill Nalen has compiled a version for Windows and he is kind enough to let me host it. It’s a little complicated to install so he went ahead and wrote a version just for Windows: WKrellM.
If you want the original GKrellM, download & install the following:
- GTK compatibility layer
- GTK Windows theme; instructions how to install it here (scroll to bottom of page).
- Setup-GKrellM.exe
- Setup-GKrellMPlugins.exe
Note - plugins must be installed here:
C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAME.gkrellm2plugins
If you’re smart enough to use Linux, all you have to do is:
sudo apt-get install gkrellm
The original GKrellM web site, along with lots of skins, can be found here. (Hint: for file in *.tar.gz; do tar -xvvzf "$file"; done )
Thanks to Bill Nalen for letting me host his software.
