I'm sick.

That's why I haven't updated in a while.  That's also why I've gotten nothing done in the past week.  And I'm too out of it to even think of a clever title for this post.

"My goodness, that sounds serious.  What is it?"

That's the fun part: we don't know.  The popular theories right now are either strep throat or mono.  For those of you with medicine-related degrees, you'll notice that one of those is a virus and the other is a bacteria.  So they really have no idea what I've got.  After one visit to my primary doctor, two blood tests, a throat swab, and pee in a cup.  That's right--I went back today for a SECOND blood test.  Preliminary results show elevated white blood count levels, which Yelena says is bad.  If it gets too much worse, I might have to be admitted, which would be the worst thing ever--I'm sick of sitting in bed with my laptop all day.  Honestly.

My symptoms, if you're interested: fever with chills, prolonged sweats, low energy, foggy brain, post-nasal drip, sore throat, coughing, nausea, headaches.  I've been taking antihistamine, decongestant, nasal spray, two inhalers, and antibiotics.

My energy is slowly returning, today I managed to pay some bills, do some email, and reassemble my barrel computer.  And I spent most of the day sitting in a chair (instead of lying in bed).

"What's this about a barrel computer?"  Oh yeah--if you haven't heard, I've been working on putting a computer inside a barrel.  "Why?  How?  Pix plz?"  Give me some time.  This was a major project and I will be putting up several web pages devoted to it.  Yes, with pictures.  And explanations.

I also have more important things to do, like go over lots of wedding photos, look for a job, slowly start cleaning the apartment again, sell things on Craigslist and ebay . . . and after the bar exam it always takes me a while to return to normal life.  Especially when I'm still sick with the mystery illness.

But I'm still here.
