Fort Alcatraz

I recently blogged about a unique Civil War event on Alcatraz island.  "Civil War on Alcatraz?  But it was a federal prison in the 1960's."  Ah yes . . . but first it was a Civil War fort.  Yes, I took pictures.  See below.

We're moving!

Turns out one bedroom is too small for three people.  So we're moving.  To a really, really nice place.  Moving day is May 9th, we'd love a hand.  New address info here (ask me for the password).

Here are a few pictures from the Craigslist ad:

We're excited!

One of the coolest things I've done in my entire life

A few months ago my reenacting club, the ACWA, did a reenactment at Fort Point.  For those of you who don't know, Ft. Point is a Civil War fortress located under the Golden Gate Bridge.  We've been reenacting at Ft. Point for years, but this time was special.  It was the first time in forty years that the National Park Service has allowed someone to stay in the fort overnight.

That's right.  An overnight reenactment at Ft. Point.
