Going back to the fires . . . thanks to Curtis for sharing some very useful links, including a Google Maps mashup.  Check out the comments on the previous post.  Also, the in-laws' house is still unharmed.

You've all probably heard about the massive fires in Southern California.  (If you haven't, turn on the news.)  My in-laws had to leave their home late last night.  According to Google Earth, their house is still safe but the fire is only 2.6 miles away and 0% contained (that's not a typo).  They're staying at a friend's house for now.

So I'm in Pittsburg going to Phil & Lydia's wedding.  It's beautiful and wonderful and all that.  The only wrinkle: they didn't know that they'd be holding their Jewish Russian wedding in the hotel at the same time as a Ukrainian Neo-Nazi memorabilia convention.  And of course the hotel didn't think this might be relevant information.  So you've got all these Jews running around the same hotel as a bunch of Neo-Nazis.
