Kepler quote

Excerpt of a letter from Kepler to Galileo in 1610:

"There will certainly be no lack of human pioneers when we have mastered the art of flight . . . .  Let us create vessels and sails adjusted to the heavenly ether, and there will be plenty of people unafraid of the empty wastes.  In the meantime, we shall prepare, for the brave sky-travellers, maps of the celestial bodies--I shall do it for the moon, you Galileo, for Jupiter."

Moview Review: Poison

Thumbs down.

Low-budget thriller about a woman whose husband gets fired and then commits suicide.  She blames it on his replacement a hot blond, insinuates herself into the new woman's home, and procedes to wreak havoc.

Tucker lives like a bachelor.

Yes, that's our hamster.  Sleeping in his litterbox.  I mean, lazy I can understand.  Believe me, I understand lazy.  But never in my life have I said: "You know, I'm on the toilet, and I want to go to sleep, what the hell, I'll just go to sleep right here."  Hasn't happened yet.

Tucker, you're an inspiration to us all.

How to EDIT Canon raw files in Linux

Last time I talked about a good way to preview photos. But when I started to edit raw photos, I ran into a problem. There's a program called DCRaw that plugs into Gimp and lets you load raw photos, including Canon's new raw format. Good. There's a GUI for that program, called UFRaw. Even better. And GQView will take the active photo and send it straight to Gimp for you. Fantastic. But here's the problem: the photo looks like it was dipped in mud.
