Two pieces of baby news: Nathan can recognize patterns, and Nathan can interact with inanimate objects.

Most books and articles on digital photo processing only give basic advice for color correction, like "use Levels" or "make an S-curve." Let's take it one step further.

My sister Amy is back in town on spring break from her PhD program on the East Coast. Hooray! Yesterday Amy & I went up to visit my baby sister Sarah at Davis. That's right, my baby sister is a senior in college. No, I don't want to talk about it. Yelena & Nathan came along so it was a real party.

First the good news: Finished the bar exam.
Now the better news: I'm going to be a stay-at-home-dad.
And now the bad news: Actually, there is no bad news. It's all good.
This is going to be a long post.

Just got the charges statement from the hospital. $107,000. No, that's not a typo. One hundred and seven thousand dollars. $38,000 for mommy (for three days in the delivery room and two days in a recovery room, plus tests, surgery, etc.) and $90,000 for baby (one week in the NICU, plus tests, etc.).
All I can say is, thank God for health insurance. We don't know how much Yelena's insurance will cover, but hopefully most of it. And now I need to call Kaiser.

One of my all-time favorite pasttimes as a kid: Oregon Trail. It was actually produced by the Government of Minnesota. My friends and I played it over and over.
So imagine my excitement when I found it online. All you need are the "disks" and an Apple IIe emulator. Here they are (look near the bottom of the page).
